Smeg joins BIM world

Italian appliance manufacturer, Smeg has introduced the use of Building information modeling (BIM) services to communicate with this market.  Designers, architects and furniture makers will be able to complete their projects in the best possible way via a BIM library of Smeg home appliances.

Building information modeling (BIM) is a process for creating and managing information on a construction project lifecycle. BIM files can be extracted, exchanged or networked to support decision-making regarding a building or other built asset.

The data model generated in the building planning phase can be used across all other phases in the building lifecycle. The process also allows planners and architects the ability to test construction plans and ideas in a virtual space to assess their practical feasibility.
