Symphony Group celebrates 50 Year Anniversary

The Symphony Group is celebrating its 50th anniversary this year, Over the last five decades, the company says it has built solid partnerships with its customers, suppliers and retail network and this is the foundation of its continued success.

“We are proud of our heritage as a British manufacturer’’ comments Simon Collyns, Marketing and Retail Director at Symphony Group.

“We employ over 1,800 people, across our three manufacturing and distribution sites in Yorkshire and are proud to offer a nurturing environment which helps employees to flourish alongside significant opportunity for growth and development. As a result of this, many of our staff have been with us for over 35 years, including myself! We also have a substantial network of trusted independent retailers who play a pivotal role in showcasing our offering to prospective customers. We have been working with many of our retailers for a number of years, such as Hiddlestone & Son based in Bridgend. We value our relationships with our retail partners and strive to offer them as much help and support as possible.”

Symphony was established in Leeds in 1971 by founding member Doug Gregory. The brand came from humble beginnings and has since grown to have nearly a million square feet of manufacturing and distribution space across its three sites. This includes its head office and marketing suite at Pen Hill, Barnsley where Symphony relocated in 2008. Symphony has just commencement with its next phase of the Pen Hill site – adding an additional 300,000 sq feet of manufacturing capacity by 2023 and service its future growth plans.

Symphony has also announced that it had achieved its self-imposed Green Energy target for electricity four years early. This news builds on efforts to reduce carbon emissions with Hybrid Electric Vehicles being added to the company car fleet, as well as being the first in the industry to install a biomass boiler to heat its Barnsley head office and production site. Symphony’s eco-credentials span across its manufacturing process all the way down to the materials used in its products, with four of its key ranges being made from 100% recycled materials.

“As we look ahead to the next 50 years, Symphony will continue to invest to support our customers and retailers,” states Simon Collyns. “This year, 2021, as well as starting on the Pen Hill extension, we are also undergoing a major re-design of our marketing suite to showcase one of our biggest ever product launches. This year has also welcomed new cabinet colours, eight new kitchen decors, new handles, worksurfaces, as well as new bedroom and bathroom ranges.

“Symphony is also at the forefront of digital marketing and later this year will see continued website developed and other new digital innovations to ensure it remains ahead and supports its retailers. Behind the scenes Symphony continues to invest heavily in its IT, manufacturing and commercial systems to enable the business to adapt to the changing market demands and opportunities which the next decades will undoubtedly bring.”
