Made to fit: the details behind a bespoke Solihull kitchen
How do you create a kitchen that feels distinctive while working effortlessly for everyday life? This Solihull customer project by Schmidt combines contrasting finishes, clever storage and bespoke features to create a space that feels both practical and personal.
Schmidt’s ‘Acros Sweet’ black doors, with anti-fingerprint technology, are paired with a black metal anodised handleless profile and long black metal handles for a clean, contemporary look.
Warmth comes from Schmidt’s ‘Murphy’ laminate wood finish, used for the 38mm-thick sink and breakfast bar worktops, inside the units and on matching wall shelves. Carrying the same finish across different elements adds depth while showcasing the flexibility of Schmidt’s bespoke approach. The combination of dark cabinetry and warm wood creates a balanced, welcoming feel throughout the space.

Clever features make the kitchen work for everyday routines. A bi-fold unit with grey mirrored glass conceals the coffee station, while Schmidt’s hidden door provides discreet access to the utility room. An AQC larder adds practical storage, complemented by a walk-in wardrobe elsewhere in the home.
At the centre, the island combines a 12mm Dekton Laurent by Cosentino worktop with a made-to-measure bar section, creating a natural spot for sitting and socialising. An undermounted sink completes the space.
From the layered wood detailing to the concealed coffee station and hidden utility access, every element contributes to a kitchen that feels distinctive, cohesive and made for the way this home is lived in.
