Retailers warned ‘Price rises likely’ due to UK shipping problems

BBC News has reported we can expect a global shipping crisis, causing freight costs to soar. UK consumers may soon see price rises for imported goods.

BBC News confirms we will see skyrocketing shipping rates, carriers are adding congestion charges for imports to Felixstowe and Southampton, because of severe delays.

The BMA raised the alarm on the developing shipping container crisis back in December when it revealed global shutdowns, followed by a sudden spike in demand, were causing congestion at ports and inevitable disruption to the supply chain.

The logistics industry has written to the Department for Transport calling for it to help clear port backlogs.
