Atim from Scavolini helps create a versatile kitchen

As we slowly emerge from lockdown and adapt to the ‘new normal’, many of us are looking at ways to switch up our homes so that they serve the times we now live in, not just from a decorative stance but from a functional one too. Living, working and playing under the same roof has given rise to designs that ease the strain of using a single room for different purposes. With this in mind, Scavolini shines a spotlight on five versatile furniture solutions from its Atim collection.

1. Linear and Linear Simple

The beauty of a sliding worktop is that it boosts work and dining space, but only when required. An excellent case in point is Linear (above), which pulls out to the front, and Linear Simple, which extends to the side. These space-expanding solutions create a generous breakfast bar and then slide back flush with the kitchen island when no longer needed. Linear is available in Vintage Oak veneer, Nordic Oak veneer and Nabuk Oak veneer (shown). Linear Simple is available in Scavolini’s full range of laminate colours.

2. Diagonal and Diagonal Simple
Supersize your island worktop with Diagonal, available in a range of veneers, or Diagonal Simple, a laminate version (shown here in Oak laminate).

Designed to slide out to serve as a breakfast bar or additional work surface, the worktop extends diagonally – as its name suggests – rather than to the front or side.

3. Assistant
This pull-out base unit may be small but it is mighty (see the main image above). Features include an Iroko wood top to prep vegetables, plus a handy cut-out so that peelings can be swept straight into the food waste bin below. And to keep kitchen knives close to hand, Assistant has a slide-out rack that slots discretely under the Iroko top.

 4. Pixo and Friendly
Thanks to shrinking living spaces, many busy kitchens don’t really have room for a permanent dining table. Cue the creation of Pixo and Friendly, pull-out tables that extend to a length of 138cm Friendly or 95cm. In both cases, when the table is not in use it is stored discretely inside cabinetry. Pixo and Friendly are available in grey laminate.

5. Hold Up+
Arguably, the heart of any sociable kitchen is the breakfast bar. But does it need to be a permanent fixture? The choice is yours with Hold Up+, which allows the breakfast bench to be extended to make room for more diners, then tucked away when not in use. Hold Up+ is available in Scavolini’s full range of laminate colours. Shown, above, in 18mm-thick Grey laminate.
