Homebase & Macmillan partnership

Homebase & Macmillan Cancer Support extends partnership

Home and garden experts Homebase has extended their partnership with Macmillan Cancer Support for another three years, with a new aim of working together to provide home-related grants. These grants will support those affected by cancer, and their families with the extra costs that living with cancer can bring.

People living with cancer can use a Macmillan grant, a one-off payment of £350, to help keep them safe and comfortable in their homes. The grant can be used towards everything from essential home upgrades and energy bills to items that can improve day to day living such as duvets, microwaves, clothing and washing machines, and even a much-needed break from cancer treatments.

As well as continuing their great success of in-store fundraising, including taking part in World’s Biggest Coffee Morning, Homebase will make it easier for their customers to donate through QR codes and at till points. Special product promotions will also be rolled out to raise money for the charity, and Homebase’s teams will take part in themed Macmillan activities and challenges.

Claire Abercrombie, Homebase Director of Customer & Communications, said: “Our team voted to work with Macmillan and have done an excellent job over the last two years raising money to help support its services in communities across the UK. By making a longer-term commitment to our partnership we can focus our support on home-related grants and help those living with cancer feel safe and comfortable in their homes.”

Natasha Parker, Macmillan Head of Corporate Partnerships, comments: “I’m extremely proud of all the work Homebase has already done to raise over £100,000 for Macmillan Cancer Support. All the money raised by Homebase will now be going towards funding Macmillan’s home-related grant scheme, a one-off payment of £350 that helps to provide home comforts to improve the wellbeing and recovery time of those most in need.

“Thank you to Homebase for your continued support, and I look forward to seeing what our partnership can achieve over the next three years.”

Homebase is the only partner to support home-related grants.

Since joining forces with Macmillan in 2019, Homebase has raised over £100,000 to fund hundreds of nursing hours in local communities.
