Houzz has released its inaugural 2025 UK State of AI in Construction and Design Report, revealing growing confidence in artificial intelligence across the sector, alongside rising demand for accessible tools, training and workflow integration.
The report, based on insights from more than 145 UK construction and design professionals, highlights how AI is rapidly becoming embedded within day-to-day business operations. While adoption remains in its early stages for some firms, nearly half of industry professionals (46%) are already using AI in their businesses, with many reporting measurable productivity gains.
According to the findings, professionals using AI save more than three hours per week on average — equivalent to an estimated annual productivity gain of more than £23,000 per business.
AI awareness and Aaoption continue to grow
The research demonstrates widespread awareness of AI technologies across the industry. More than seven in 10 respondents (72%) say they are familiar with AI, while a further 72% are aware of tools designed specifically for construction and design workflows.
Confidence in AI’s long-term impact is also increasing, with 60% of respondents believing the technology will transform the sector within the next five years.
Speaking about the findings, Alon Cohen said: “AI innovation in construction and design is accelerating, creating a competitive advantage for pros who adopt it. As the report shows, pros in our industry are approaching this era with openness and a strong desire to learn.”
He added: “The future is about adopting AI to build stronger, more successful businesses. At Houzz, this vision has guided our work: delivering powerful AI capabilities in Houzz Pro software to boost productivity across every phase of a project and client relationship.”
Administrative tasks lead AI usage
The report reveals that administrative work remains the most common application for AI tools among construction and design professionals. Around 79% of all respondents use AI for tasks such as note-taking, formatting and document editing.
Other key areas of adoption include:
Sales and marketing activities (52%), including social media content creation, advertising and lead management
Planning and design functions (33%), such as project visualisation, floor plans and takeoffs
Project and client management tools (31%), including estimating, invoicing and task tracking
Business operations and reporting (21%), covering expense tracking, paperwork and financial reporting
Construction professionals reported particularly strong adoption of AI in sales and marketing functions, while design professionals were more likely to use AI for planning and visualisation tasks.
Demand for integrated AI solutions
Despite positive sentiment towards AI, the research also identifies ongoing concerns around accuracy, reliability, data privacy and a lack of training.
Nearly two-thirds of professionals currently using AI (61%) say they are satisfied with their experience, while 60% report that AI has already had a moderate to significant impact on workflows.
However, many respondents highlighted the need for simpler, more intuitive solutions that fit naturally into existing processes. Andrea Yorston Interior Design commented: “We know AI could save us time, but most tools require a level of training and experimentation that just isn’t realistic when you’re running projects day to day. What makes the biggest difference is when those capabilities are built into the tools we already use, so you can start benefiting from them straight away.”
This trend points towards growing demand for integrated AI-powered platforms that support construction and design professionals without adding operational complexity. Download the full report here.
