InSinkErator launches social media giveaway for Stop Food Waste Day

This Stop Food Waste Day (29 April), InSinkErator has launched a social media giveaway designed to educate the public about food waste reduction.

Ten lucky social media users now have the chance to win a 700EC food waste disposer as part of a new initiative designed for online sharing around the key awareness day.

To enter, users must tag the brand in an image or a Reel of a meal they’ve made using ingredients they would usually throw away, such as potato peel crisps, broccoli stem slaw, or a “clean out the fridge” soup.

The social media giveaway will run for the next month and focuses on the positive side of food waste reduction – upcycling leftovers and using the “whole” ingredient, while highlighting that InSinkErator is there for the truly inedible scraps. Following the conclusion of the competition, InSinkErator will select 10 winners to all receive the 700EC food waste disposer.

Anne Kaarlela, marketing communications and customer service manager Europe, InSinkErator commented: “InSinkErator is always looking for new ways to take meaningful action against food waste. By launching this social media giveaway, we hope to get people thinking more about their waste and we want to create a snowball effect in which friends take notice and get involved too.

“Stop Food Waste Day is the perfect time to remind that small changes can have a big collective impact,” said Anne. “The giveaway is a simple, engaging way for people to rethink how they use their ingredients, and for many it could be the catalyst for adopting long-term, sustainable food waste habits.”

Future of food waste

Now mandatory under the Simpler Recycling scheme, food waste must be separated from household waste and recycling in England. Through its COMPOST CADDY EASY strategy, the brand has been educating the industry this year about modern food waste management, outlining the benefits and practicalities of its products as food waste disposal becomes an increasingly prominent national conversation.
