InSinkErator® reveals the best songs to cook to according to Spotify

Food waste disposer inventor, InSinkErator® has analysed over 14,000 songs from Spotify playlists to reveal the most popular tracks and artists streamed globally to accompany people in their kitchens.

The data revealed that ‘Put Your Records On’ by Corinne Bailey Rae is the most popular song to play while cooking1. In second place is Earth, Wind & Fire’s ‘September’ and coming in third is ‘You Make My Dreams (Come True)’ by Daryl Hall and John Oates1. The artists that featured in the playlists were also analysed to reveal the most frequently listened to artist in the kitchen. In the top spot is Stevie Wonder, followed by The Beatles with Fleetwood Mac taking third place1.

Unsurprisingly, December is the most popular time for cooking as we typically host family meals and dinner parties over the festive season. According to Google data, searches for ‘cooking’ over the last three years spiked by 92 per cent on average in December compared to the rest of the year. And there are lots of hosting expected this year as we haven’t had a proper Christmas since 2019.

Jamie Griffin, Digital Marketing and Ecommerce Manager, Europe and Russia, InSinkErator®, says: “It’s important to us at InSinkErator® that we understand how consumers act in the kitchen and what affects their cooking mood. Looking into the songs and artists most listened to when cooking shows us that we use music to set the tone of the meal and that we love cooking to nostalgic tunes, unlocking food and music memories.

“While for some cooking is a huge stress reliever and often an act of self-care, over the festive season it can become far from relaxing thanks to cluttered and messy worktops, lack of space and general chaos in the kitchen. This is why having the perfect playlist is crucial. Combine the perfect playlist with an InSinkErator® specialist kitchen tap and food waste disposer for a stress-free kitchen atmosphere this Christmas.”
