Kitchen and appliance distributor LDD UK is celebrating 25 years in business, and founder Arthur B. Leaker remains optimistic about the future despite recent challenges in the industry.
LDD UK was founded to serve kitchen specialists, builders, developers and merchants in the year 2000. Since then, the longstanding family business has grown to become one of the UK’s largest independent kitchen and appliance distributors, maintaining a stockholding of more than £5M and serving the entire United Kingdom from its 250,000 sq. ft premises in Newhouse, Lanarkshire.
Founder and managing director, Leaker, comments: “We’re enormously proud to reach this milestone and it really is a testament to being agile, committed, and having an excellent team. Ultimately, we pride ourselves on our reliability and service, driven by the exceptional personnel we have within the business, which has enabled us to not only reach 25 years of trading, but to get here in strong shape and excited about the future.”
While this year’s anniversary marks a significant achievement, it comes at a time when kitchen distribution is experiencing challenging headwinds.
Arthur continued: “Being here for 25 years, I can say that we’ve seen a lot of change. More recently there have been major losses in kitchen distribution, which is causing a significant reset to the market as we know it. Now, you simply can’t escape negativity, and to see national distributors cease trading, it inevitably impacts customer confidence.
“When there are big shifts across the distribution landscape, the ripple effects are felt across the entire supply chain, and I see it really as our mission to help reinstate confidence and support to regional independents across the UK who have felt the knock-on effect of this seismic change.
“We’re at a pivotal part of our journey and we want to bring others along with us, helping them to thrive, both right now and into the future. That’s what the next 25 years should look like in my opinion, and I truly do have a positive outlook on this.”
As part of its 25th anniversary celebrations this year, LDD UK hosted a special staff celebration at its showroom, bringing the entire team together to mark the major milestone for the business. The event provided an opportunity to reflect on 25 years of growth, success, changes, and its loyal team, while looking ahead to an exciting future.
New supplier partnerships this year include distribution agreements with Haier Hoover Candy Group, Hansgrohe, and Sycamore Lighting.
