The UK and Eire division of Bertazzoni has achieved estimated net carbon savings in 2024 equivalent to 4,216 train journeys from London to Glasgow.

Accomplished through end-of-life electrical waste recycling activities, the brand, synonymous with Made in Italy across the world, turned waste into opportunity by responsibly recycling its appliances at Approved Authorised Treatment Facilities (AATFs).

From safe removal of hazardous components to AI-powered optical sorting and robotic arms, the advanced processes maximise recovery of valuable resources, delivering high quality recycling and reducing reliance on virgin materials such as steel, plastic, copper and aluminium.

Reported in Bertazzoni UK Ltd’s WEEE Recycling Carbon Impact Report 2024, recently published here, the results were ratified by industry-leading compliance scheme, Ecogenesys. The organisation uses an independently peer-reviewed Carbon Model, certified to ISO14044 standard, the international standard for life cycle assessment, to calculate the environmental benefits of recycling.

It measures the CO²e emitted for every tonne of electrical waste recycled using data from the transport and treatment processes. It also calculates the carbon emissions avoided through the recycling outputs.
