A Regency home with tall ceilings, original coving and a large bay window provided the setting for a characterful kitchen designed by deVOL in collaboration with interior design studio Charles & Co.

The project combines deVOL’s Classic English and Real Shaker cabinetry to create a scheme that balances the proportions and architectural character of the period property with a more contemporary approach to kitchen design.

The cabinetry is finished in chalky pale tones, contrasted with a deep reddish-brown island, while appliances are integrated into the scheme to maintain a clean, uncluttered aesthetic. The exception is a Wolf range cooker, which provides a focal point within the kitchen.

Storage was a key consideration, with the design incorporating a combination of closed and glazed cabinetry, pan drawers and dedicated pantry storage. Open shelving, supported by brass brackets, provides space for selected decorative pieces without compromising the overall pared-back look.

Honed Carrara marble has been used extensively throughout the scheme, continuing up the wall and across the cabinetry. A rounded edge detail adds a softer finish to the worktops and complements the traditional character of the property, while the natural stone brings texture and continuity to the design.

Brass and copper detailing, including handcrafted hardware, taps and a round preparation sink, introduces warmth and contrast. deVOL’s Heirloom Task Lights provide additional illumination, creating focused pools of light across the work surfaces.

The completed kitchen combines traditional English detailing with contemporary functionality, demonstrating how carefully considered cabinetry, materials and finishes can work within a period property without competing with its existing architectural character.
