A flint cottage on the east coast of England has been updated with a bespoke Shaker kitchen by deVOL, combining classic cabinetry with a carefully balanced colour palette and practical storage solutions. The design focuses on creating a calm, functional space that reflects the character of the property while supporting everyday living.

Balanced colour palette

The main run of Shaker cabinetry is painted in deVOL’s Bakehouse Green, bringing a rich, moody tone that complements the cottage setting. To offset this, a central prep table in Princelet Pink introduces a lighter element, ensuring the room retains a sense of brightness without losing its cosy feel.

Integrated cabinetry and layout

Tall Shaker doors provide concealed storage, with two full-height fridges positioned to the right of the sink. On the left, stacked ovens are paired with a spacious storage cupboard, allowing for a streamlined and uncluttered layout.

Marble sink as a focal point

Positioned in front of the window, the marble sink serves as a key design feature. Carved from a single block of Carrara marble, it adds a refined and timeless element to the scheme.

Walk-in pantry for additional storage

A separate walk-in pantry helps maintain a clean and organised kitchen. Tiled from floor to ceiling, the space features Shaker cupboards with fabric skirts alongside open shelving, providing storage for appliances, cookbooks and ingredients.

Dedicated utility and laundry space

A multi-purpose laundry and utility room completes the layout. Designed to accommodate washing, drying, folding and ironing, it also provides space for plant care and storage of coats and wellington boots. A designated area for dogs has also been incorporated, enhancing the practicality of the space.
