GROHE’s SmartControl technology in kitchen tap range

GROHE’s SmartControl shower technology is re-imagined in new award-winning kitchen tap range.

The kitchen is the heart of the home, where everyone comes together to cook, eat and enjoy each other’s company. However, the stresses and time limitations of everyday life often mean that the kitchen also needs to double as a space of convenience and efficiency. That’s where innovative kitchen equipment such as the brand new GROHE SmartControl tap range comes into play. Drawing inspiration from GROHE’s award-winning SmartControl showers range, characterised by buttons which you push and turn to select different spray patterns and adjust the water volume, the same design vision has now been brought to the kitchen, in a bid to achieve truly intuitive and ergonomic design.

SmartControl Technology

With the SmartControl kitchen tap range, GROHE has replaced the standard kitchen tap lever with an intelligent, outward-facing button positioned at the end of the tap’s spout to create a completely new user experience. Perfect for when hands are full with pots and pans or unclean from cooking, the ergonomic design prioritises user-friendliness while also helping to reduce the spread of harmful germs and bacteria in the home.

With a simple push of the button, the water can be instantly turned on and off. Once the stream of water has been activated, the volume of water – scalable from a water-saving eco-spray to a powerful jet-spray – can be adjusted smoothly and precisely with just a twist of the button for perfect, personalised water flow. The eco setting is a new and unique feature that reduces water consumption whilst still providing ample water volume to carry out your everyday tasks in the kitchen. GROHE has developed the function in response to increasing demand for ‘greener’ solutions to be made available for the home. This is a simple yet effective feature that will encourage homeowners to be more mindful of how much water they may be using or wasting whilst washing up, preparing food or undertaking other kitchen chores. For added convenience, the eco setting can also be automatically pre-selected as standard on request.

Meanwhile, the temperature of the water can be regulated using a mixing valve on the body of the tap. The SmartControl range uses intelligent technology to automatically save your preferred settings, meaning that the
volume and temperature levels will be just as you like it the next time you use the tap.

“Our new GROHE SmartControl kitchen tap range emulates the mega-trend prediction we foresaw last year. Consumers are increasingly opting for transitional new style living spaces that blend and redefine our current perception of the kitchen and bathroom in 2020,” comments Paul Bailey, Senior Category Manager at GROHE UK. “The ‘Push-and-Turn‘ operation that originated in our range of SmartControl showers has now evolved into
the kitchen where it provides unique benefits that will help facilitate the fast pace of modern living.”

The new tap range is available in three popular designs: Essence, Zedra and Minta. The Minta design gives a minimalist and cylindrical look whilst the aesthetic of GROHE‘s Zedra line has been recently updated to accommodate the ‘push-and-turn‘ operation while still providing its well-known and loved contemporary finish. The Zedra model has also recently been named ‘Kitchen Innovation of the Year 2020’ in the kitchen sinks and fittings category commended for its innovation, design and ergonomics.

Meanwhile, the popular Essence range is available in an impressive selection of 10 different high-quality PVD colours and finishes. This collection of colour finishes has also just received acknowledgement from the world’s oldest independent design institution, the International Forum of Design, winning the ‘iF Gold Award 2020’.

These striking finishes have also been developed to perfectly match the selection of styles on offer in both GROHE’s PVD under-mounted sinks and its first ever composite range of sinks, offering ideal compatibility in not only looks but functionality too.
