UWLA welcomes first EU Commissioner for Water Resilience

The UWLA has welcomed the appointment of Jessika Roswall as the first EU Commissioner for water resilience. As Commissioner for Environment, Water Resilience and a Competitive Circular Economy, Jessika’s task is to lead the EU’s work on protecting the natural world and boosting the circular economy.

UWLA MD Yvonne Orgill said, “I am delighted that the EU is promoting a holistic Water Resilience Strategy and making water efficiency a key pillar in the strategy to achieve the goals set out in the European Green Deal.

“We are seeing increasing support from major European manufacturers for the Unified Water Label, our voluntary labelling scheme, which is well respected across Europe, and formally recognised within the ISO 31600 Water Label Standard.

“The use of Unified Water Label products in residential and commercial buildings can contribute to improved water efficiency, alongside education to help users develop water efficient habits and behaviour.

“The Unified Water Label has been developed by industry leading to innovation and organic market transition, without the need for restrictive legislation which could become a barrier to the evolution of new products.

“Working together we can promote the solutions that are best for industry and move forward the re-use, repair recycle agenda.”
